Praised for her "clear, bell-like tone," (OperaWire), soprano Julia Gmeiner performs concert, opera, sacred, and musical theatre works, and teaches children and adults.

Prior to the pandemic, Ms. Gmeiner performed at Symphony Space, made her role debut as Gilda in Rigoletto at the Mentor Civic Ampitheater (OH), and appeared as Frasquita in Opera Breve's "fascinating" psycho-thriller adaptation of Carmen. In 2016, she bought her keen comedic acting to a successful run as Miss Hedgehog in Tobias Picker’s Fantastic Mr. Fox with the Young Artist Program at Opera Steamboat. Previous favorite roles include Amy March in Little Women, Despina in Così fan tutte, Veronique in Pasatieri’s Hotel Casablanca, Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro, and Rapunzel in Into the Woods.

After years in NYC and a two year detour to Dallas, TX, Ms. Gmeiner is currently based in Connecticut. She is a native of Maine and a graduate of the Master of Music program in Voice Performance from The University of Texas, Austin. She is also an alumna of OperaWorks and the CAP21 Professional Training Program in Musical Theatre. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a minor in Drama from Tufts University, where she graduated summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
